Synergy Workshop

I joined a workshop called Empowered to Purse : Expanding Your Value . This workshop was held on December 5th 2023 at 4pm. This workshop was for students in a IPP or ITP who identify as Black/African American to get together and discuss what is like being students in this field and what it will be like becoming interpreters in this field. It was amazing to meet other Black interpreters from all over the country and discuss similar experiences and how we can impact the interpreting community.

Puberty and Sex Ed Workshop

I was able attend Bee Gehman's Puberty and Sex Education workshop. This workshop was held on January 20th, 2024. Puberty and sex education can be a sensitive topic, but it's important to provide young people with accurate information and resources to make informed decisions. This workshop offered a safe and inclusive space for interpreters to learn about their bodies, relationships, and sexual health. Bee used age-appropriate language and activities to create a and engaging learning environment.

Tri-lingual Workshop

I was able to participate in this Tri-lingual workshop held by Caleb Lopez on Saturday April 6th, 2024. This interpreting workshop was designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to become effective interpreters in three languages and how to support them during team interpreting jobs. This workshop was a great experience and I hope to do more of them in the future.

Our
Story

Monique Clark conducted this workshop on November 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The session explored her experiences as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), delved into various types of trauma, and offered an insightful analysis of what it means for individuals to embody their authentic, adaptive, and performative selves. Monique shared personal anecdotes and practical tools for cultivating self-awareness and embracing authenticity in both personal and professional contexts.
